Super Crispy Baked French Fries – the best ever!

The oven baked super crispy French fries are made with 5 Elements, and they are so delicious that children do not even ask for ketchup! They are skin on like in the recipe here, to save you work and waste.

Why bake rather than deep fry your chips?

There are many reasons for that. Just to name a few, baked fries contain less fat and less trans fats which are created in the process of deep frying. You do not need a selected kind of potatoes. Any potatoes will taste good. What is more, you get fries for all the family at once rather than in batches. Finally, with the addition of spices the 5-element oven baked crispy fries are well balanced and absolutely delicious. Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices.

The preparation 

Wash thoroughly the potatoes. Do not peel them. Cut them into thick slices and then cut the slices into fries. 

The procedure

In a large mixing bowl add the following:

  • Sweet potato fries, 2-3 tablespoons of rapeseed oil, 1 teaspoon sweet paprika, 
  • Pungent a pinch of freshly ground coriander, a pinch of black pepper, a pinch of cayenne (optional),
  • Salty a generous pinch of sea salt, 
  • Sour a pinch of basil, 
  • Bitter a pinch of turmeric, a pinch of dried rosemary. 

Toss and shake the fries in the bowl several times. Make sure all the fries are covered with spices. Bake in a preheated oven to 200ºC for 25-30 minutes. While baking open the oven 2-3 times to let the steam out. In this way your fries will always be crispy on the outside and soft inside. 

Serve immediately sprinkled with fresh thyme and crushed chillies.
