Orange nad Ginger Tea – lots of benefits

Fresh Orange and Ginger Tea is perfect for long autumn evenings. It will make you feel warm, snug and cosy, however, the tea has much more to offer than this. It will keep you refreshed and energised because it is both sweet and pungent. The sweetness is the most natural you can imagine, as it comes from the fruit. The pungent flavour is also natural and it comes form freshly grated ginger root. The 5-element variation is based on this recipe. Take a look and compare.

Fresh Ginger Root – a superfood

First of all, ginger will protect you against bacterias and viruses and will boost your immune system. It has very strong anti-inflammatory properties and lowers blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels. Also, it helps in chronic indigestion by speeding up the emptying of the stomach. Finally, it has amazing, sharp flavour which goes perfectly with black tea.

How to make Orange and Ginger Tea

Use a teapot (the size depends on how many people are going to enjoy the tea) and add the ingredients in the following order:

  • Bitter 1-2 teaspoons of black loose leaf tea, boiling water, let it infuse for 2-3 minutes,
  • Sweet juice of half and orange,
  • Pungent 1-2 teaspoons of finely grated ginger root,
  • Salty a tiny pinch of sea salt,
  • Sour 2-3 mint leaves (optional).

Allow another 5-6 minutes of infusing for the flavours to blend and serve garnished with slices of orange and some mint leaves. If you do not mind little bits in your cup, let the ginger pieces float on the surface and eat them while having the tea. In this way, you will get even more of the benefits ginger root has to offer.

Fresh Orange and Ginger Tea is a great drink just on its own, after you had a long day. Also, it goes great with sweet things like vanilla cheesecake, pannukakku – Finnish oven cake or apple tart
