The Most Vibrant Irish Coffee with 5 Element Whipped Cream
Irish Coffee is a very simple thing to make: some coffee, a splash of whiskey and sprayed whipped cream on top. In this way you will get a flavour which is simple but flat as well. However, if you make your whipped cream with 5 Elements you will get a very deep and vibrant flavour. It will be a little bit of salted caramel with an intriguing hint of vanilla… Just perfect.
To make your special 5-element whipped cream
Take a look at a detailed instruction on how to make the perfect whipped cream. Just to make sure, use cold cream for whipping. Otherwise, if you use cream in room temperature it will whip within a few seconds and will almost immediately turn into butter, which unfortunately happened to me twice.
The procedure for the 5-element whipped cream
In a medium-sized mixing bowl add the following:
- Sweet 100ml double cream, 2 teaspoons of icing sugar, 2-3 drops of vanilla extract (optional),
- Pungent a tiny pinch of chilli cayenne,
- Salty a small pinch of fine sea salt,
- Sour 5-6 drops of lemon juice,
- Bitter a small pinch of turmeric.
Whisk with a hand mixer until the cream starts to thicken. Do not beat it for too long as it will turn into butter.
The amount will make 3-4 small coffee cups.
To put the the most Vibrant Irish Coffee together
Make your favourite coffee. It can be espresso, moka or Turkish style coffee. Add a splash of whiskey to your coffee cup. Add coffee, leaving a margin of 1-2 cm to the brim of the cup. At this point you may add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, but with the sweet cream topping you may prefer to skip that. Top it up with your whipped cream.
Irish coffee tastes amazing just on its own or with cakes of your choice, for example Vanilla Cheesecake or Rhubarb Tart.
