The most delectable watermelon margarita – smooth and easy 

For me, the most delectable watermelon margarita is the one made with 5 elements. It is quick, smooth and easy. 

The definition says that a margarita is a cocktail consisting of tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. It is served with salt on the rim of the glass. Also, the drink can be shaken with ice, blended with ice, or consumed without ice. 

If you dig a little bit deeper you will find lots of variations of the original mixer. There are strawberry margaritas, margaritas with orange extract, raspberry margaritas, pineapple margaritas and many more. They can be frozen or unfrozen or prepared in many more ways.

The preparation 

Peel and dice a half or a quarter of a watermelon, depending on how big it is. Wash a lime and squeeze the juice out. Allow 1 lime per 1 litre of watermelon juice. The amounts will make about 4 servings.

The procedure 

In a large blender cup add the following ingredients: 

  • Sweet watermelon cubes, blend them well (at this point you may want to take the foam off),
  • Pungent a pinch of cayenne pepper, 
  • Salty a pinch of salt, 
  • Sour juice of 1 lime, 
  • Bitter 100 – 150 ml of tequila, a pinch of turmeric. 

Blend all the ingredients for at least 20-30 seconds. You want the watermelon to blend very well to avoid any lumps. For an even smoother texture you may take the foam off. However, it is bit wasteful. Also, the drink with all the bits in is more wholesome and really hydrating. 

To finish off

Decorate the rims of the serving glasses with some sea salt flakes and a slice of lime. 

For a cooling effect you may add some ice cubes to the jug.
