Prepare yourself for the healthiest snack – Crunchy Cauliflower Bites
These Crunchy Cauliflower Bites are so flavoursome, plus they look so mouth-watering, that they will be gone in minutes. Mine did not even make it to the serving plate. They got eaten straight from the baking tray.
I got inspired by this recipe and naturally made it into 5 Elements. Of course, the result was splendid!
Feel free to experiment with your own spices. For example, in the Sweet Element you can add some smoky paprika, in the Pungent Element add some freshly ground coriander seeds, etc.
Preparation
Divide cauliflower into florets, rinse them and cut the large ones into halves or quarters. You want to get them in more or less similar size.
To make the butter coating
In a small pan melt 100g butter and transform it to a little bowl.
To make the breadcrumb mix
In a medium-sized mixing bowl add the following ingredients:
- Sweet 1 cup breadcrumbs, a pinch of sweet paprika,
- Pungent a pinch of cayenne, a large pinch of black pepper, 2-3 garlic cloves grated on a parmesan grater,
- Salty 1/2 cup parmesan grated, a pinch of salt,
- Sour a generous squeeze of lemon juice, a pinch of basil (optional),
- Bitter 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, a pinch of thyme.
The procedure
Dip cauliflower florets one by one in butter and transfer them to the breadcrumb mixture. Coat them generously with breadcrumbs and put onto baking tray lined with baking parchment.
Bake in the oven preheated to 180-200ºC for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Make sure you do not keep the cauliflower in the oven too long, otherwise it will get mushy inside.
Crunchy roasted cauliflower bites are delicious on their own, as an evening snack or as a dinner side, to go with curly kale.
