Honey and lemon roasted feta – a delicious autumn bite!
Fancy something sweet and salty? This recipe for honey and lemon roasted feta is a perfect answer. It gives you an amazing combination of flavours and comfort food for colder days. It can be a fantastic starter at a dinner party or a full dinner option for two with a salad on the side. I got the inspiration to make it from here, transformed it to a 5-element one and added the super-healthy and delicious sesame seeds. Test it yourself.
The procedure
In a small mixing bowl add the following ingredients:
- Sweet 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of olive oil,
- Pungent a pinch of chilli cayenne, a pinch of black pepper,
- Salty a pinch of fine salt,
- Sour 1 tablespoon of lemon juice,
- Bitter a pinch of turmeric, a few fresh thyme leaves.
Mix all the ingredients well until honey combines with the other ingredients.
The baking
Pour the mixture into a medium-sized baking dish and dip whole feta in it. Turn it over several time s so that it is covered with the mix well. Sprinkle some sesame seeds over it or dip the feta piece in the seeds spread on a plate. Make sure your feta is all covered with the seeds.
Bake in a preheated oven to 180℃ for about 15 minutes until feta gets golden-brown on the edges.
Serve immediately in the hot baking dish. In this way your feta will be soft and tender for longer. Otherwise the cheese gets cold and tough very quickly.
Honey and lemon roasted feta goes perfectly with dark rye bread or a light salad at the side.
